David started this photo diary thing which I thought at first was too much bother. I got sucked into it gradually and eventually started to do my own in early March. I started off with an early, cheap, digital 'point and shoot' - a Fujifilm Finepix 1400 zoom, which I used until the beginning of June. During that time, I gradually got more and more frustrated with its limitations so I sold it and bought a Canon G3. I'm delighted with the flexibility it gives me and the improved picture quality.

I have been amazed since starting this 'blog with pictures' that so many people have looked at my photos (around 110,000 by the beginning of October)- thanks to all taking the trouble.

So, this is it, me, nothing (much) hidden. Some of the postings are just random collections of thoughts and some of the postings are pretty personal. I suppose that's much like life anyway - sometimes we formulate the things we do and think and sometimes the actions or thoughts of others are heavily influential.

Elvis Costello, in my humble view THE best musician of modern times, wrote a song called 'Everyday I Write The Book' and although the book he refers to in the song isn't like this book at all, there are a few lines of the song that really resonate with me as a parallel with this, given a little tweak. 'All my compliments and cutting remarks are captured here in my quotation marks'. So everyday I write the book of my life, sometimes mundane and trivial, sometimes not, always real, always me.
