Although Terri and Sherri (the two white Sussex hens we've had since last autumn) have lived happily with Milly and Molly (the two elderley Welsummers who have been with me for about five years), all of a sudden Milly and Molly have started attacking Terri. It started one day with a few feathers gone, then cuts and then a huge gash on the back of her head. David rescued her from certain death, cleaned her up and sought advice on how to remedy the problem via a Hen Keepers discussion forum.

She's got to be kept apart from the others until fully recovered with all her feathers grown back or they will apparently set upon her again. To give her some exercise, we've been shutting the other hens up and letting her have some time to rummage about. David is just putting her back into her safe area. Note the motorcycle gloves - a peck from a hen isn't a nice thing!
