Well, yes, I know there are only four in the picture (unless you count the wooden one in the middle)....I'm number five and I'm taking the pic.
When I met Shazbop, and Colin in 1981 I don't think any of us realised the longevity our friendship would have, yet here we are twenty two years on and still loving each-others' company. We were part of a group (also including Paul Christian (by name but not by nature) and Andrew (my ex)) that we called the Famous Five after the Enid Blyton books that we all loved as kids.
Gradually the Famous Five has evolved - Paul now lives in Manchester and his place in the day-to-day workings of the group has been taken up by Hugh - Paul will never be ousted from the group though - he'll stay a part of the five till the end of time. David makes up our fifth number now!
Tonight we celebrated my birthday (two weeks late) and the upcoming birthday of David. The Old Thai House is a fantastic place - not at all pretentious like many Thai restaurants - just simple, very high quality food in nice surroundings. When we arrived we were led upstairs not realising they had an upstairs room. It was gorgeous - matt red paint, gold wooden flowers on the ceiling and a fantastic floor show with traditional Thai dancing. The whole evening was perfect!
Thanks for my pressies guys. David took this pic of me at the restaurant!
