It all seems so long ago. We were young, foolish and very happy. Paul Young was the greatest SEX GOD who ever lived. The man had the lot, smouldering good looks, a wonderful voice, the body of adonis and so much charisma he could turn a hundred heads just by being in the same room. You always felt special when you were with him. He always engaged totally with the person he was talking to and was never distracted by others.

He always used to say he was a 'singer of songs' and it didn't matter whether that was on a cruise ship or at Wembley Arena - he's be happy belting them out to any audience.

I met most of my closest friends through Paul. First Claire, who approached me at a gig wanting to buy pics I'd taken, then Sharon, then Colin and Paul all through the one route. We all thought Paul was wonderful, even Colin and Paul who admired his ability to 'get the girl' as much as they did his singing.

Tonight, Sharon, Colin, Steph and I went to see him in Croydon. Overall it was shocking and depressing. Whereas we've all put on weight and lost our looks (sad but true), he still looks like adonis and still has that charisma. What's gone is the voice. He can't hold a note any more. It's heartbreaking to watch.
