balmy

Today was a 'shuffling paper around the desk' sort of day for all of the revellers from last night's BIG BASH. My early morning panic of 'oh no, I know I haven't got my Laptop' meaning a mere 4 hours sleep for me and, although I managed to restrain myself from phoning my team members at 7am when this blinding realisation hit me, I woke all of them at 8.30 am asking if anyone had seen it and asking those in hotels in Kensington to go back to the Roof Gardens and demand they search for it!!!

My mobile phone was on the blink so I'd not seen the text message from Louise saying 'I've got your laptop, don't worry!'

Imagine my relief and gratitude when I got to the office and there it was - I'd spent a very uncomfortable train journey trying to think how I was going to break the news to our IT manager who would have absolutely put me through a mincer as I've already had one stolen this year. My name would have been mud.

As soon as I'd calmed down, my next thought was 'oh good, let's go to the pub for a fat-laden lunch as a hangover cure' and get all the gossip about who went home with whom and who tried to pull someone and got rebutted!!! It's always a good game after such a do. We sat outside in the pub garden eating chips and drinking soft drinks (very unusual) and I looked up and saw this olive tree in a pot against the beautiful blue sky and thought 'how can this be the end of September?' - I had to capture the scene so I could look back on it and see it was actually true.

What a nice way to 'debrief' the gang after weeks of hard slog making sure everything was in place to run the awards ceremony smoothly.
