Today's wind and movement!

It's been a typical October day today - I've been out to a client whose offices are about 50 miles away from home and driven through swirling leaves everywhere. I love this time of year, gorgeous colours and the added bonus of the freshening effect of the wind. I stopped off for lunch with my Mum (poached eggs on toast are rarely sweeter)and she was complaining bitterly that the wind would take away all the colour. I don't mind that at all.

While driving, I've been working out how to set up my camera with a long enough exposure to visually capture the wind while not over-exposing.....I had it all figured out so as soon as I'd finished work off up the garden I went with my camera and tripod. I was experimenting with different exposure lengths and different camera angles so it would be possible to see the movement wasn't camera shake by having perfectly focused detail on static objects and blurry pampas bracts.

I'd almost got it to a point where I was happy with the output and a new dimension came into play - round the corner came the chickens who love to munch the seeds from the pampas grass - so, the bright white blur across the front is a hen (Terri) in full-on scurry mode, helping herself to some goodies and we have Sherri and Molly in the background but they're not moving so fast.

So is the pic interesting? I dunno, I just know that I stretched myself to get it so that's two days in a row I've had to really think hard about how to get the photo I wanted and that is a good thing as I'd all-but given up photography when I started this project. I'm so pleased now to be getting much pleasure from it again.
