This pattern comprises a Chinese style jacket and pants. The jacket would be a good pattern to use for a Tang jacket (like those sold by Shanghai Tang), and the pants would be good for lounging or sleep.
I have made the pants. My fabric is a dark blue Hawaiian design, which has been in my stash for a long time. This is a unisex pattern. I made the women's extra large size, and found the legs long enough but the rise not high enough. These pants must be drafted for someone about 165cm (5ft 5in) tall, and I am slightly taller than that. The legs are straight, wide, and a good length.
There are no side seams. The seam allowance is half an inch (12mm). The contrast panel fits on top of the lower leg like an extra layer.

My second version is made in a quilting fabric by Alexander Henry called Tokaido Road, evoking the journey between Kyoto and Tokyo in Japan. I bought it in memory of my visit to Japan fifty years ago.
This time I added 3cm (about 1.25in) to the rise, halfway between the crotch and the waist, which has improved the fit considerably. The contrast bands were cut sideways, i.e. parallel with the selvedge, which makes a mess of the design, but I am calling it a design effect.
