A pattern from 1986 for three muumuus with sleeve and length variations. I have made view C, which is mid-calf length, has three-quarter sleeves, and is trimmed with lace. My fabric is a cotton from Got Fabric. The lace is cotton guipure lace from an old-fashioned, upmarket sewing shop.
I could have made either size L or XL as I seemed to be between sizes and had copies of both sizes. In the event, I made size XL but downsized it slightly. The resulting fit is oversized even for a muumuu, and next time I could make a size smaller.
A year later I have made view B, using poplin with a purple and white plumeria design purchased online from Hawaiian Fabric. I used size L and slightly modified the yoke, making it narrower and with wider shoulder straps to prevent the garment slipping off my shoulders. The resulting dress is cute and fun to wear in summer. Larger sizes require 4 yards or just under 4 metres.
I warmly recommend this pattern to anyone who likes muumuus.
