This pattern from 1978 for a nightgown has a pleated front, button front slit opening and lace or ruffled collar. My fabric is a cotton-wool blend in navy blue with a paisley print from Fashion Fabrics Club.
I opted for a mandarin collar rather than lace or a ruffle, and omitted the lace bands on the sleeves. To cope with insufficient fabric, I added a horizontal band at the bottom of the sleeve - redundant, as it turns out. The sleeves are long. I also added a strip of ribbon rather than lace to the cuff.
The resulting garment is a voluminous garment but wearable. The very deep front slit is annoying, but could be partly closed with another button or two.
