I have made this pattern for an over-sized shirt in a sturdy white cotton, purchased as a remnant from Tessuti. Although I have lots of patterned shirts and tops, I also need plain ones, to go with patterned skirts and trousers, such as my paisley harem pants (McCalls 5889). This project was partly inspired by Vogue 1328 by Perry Ellis, a pattern from the eighties for a long shirt worn with trousers. This white shirt therefore could be quite a useful item and the pattern likewise useful for other fabrics in my stash.
I am making a second version in a blue and white paisley batik cotton, bought from a shop called People's in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur. This shirt was inspired by a blue shirt seen in a street in Penang.
