The trip to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, was a 3-day excursion on my Tour of China, after we visited Chengdu. The first day we mainly just flew there and relaxed. Our guide reminded us to make every movement slowly to let the body adjust to the high altitude, to avoid getting dizzy, as Lhasa is located almost 12,000 feet above the sea level. I was well prepared and took a pill before the flight, like what I did in Peru and Yunnan. Another thing that some tourists might find it not easy to adapt to is the local food - if they don't eat lamb.
Interesting sojourn.
One day I hope to vist both Tibet and Peru (Machu Pichu area)
What kind of pill did you take to adjust to 12,000 feet??
I live in California beach town sea level :)
