Guangxi used to be a province of China, but in 1958, it became an autonomous region. Yunnan and Guangxi border each other, and I went to both regions in 2015, but crazily enough, I booked them separately. First I joined a group tour to Yunnan, but after that tour, I went to HK for three days, then went to Guangxi alone. I hired a private tour guide to show me Guilin, Yangshuo and Daxu, the places most frequently visited by tourists. He was a great guide, but the worst thing was that I had got very sick in Yunnan and while in Guangxi, the ride from Guilin to Yangshuo made my cold much worse. It was not good for those who had respiratory allergies or asthma. All the tourist boats on the river were one after another, the diesel smell was very strong.

It was raining most of the time during my 4 days/3 nights trip, otherwise foggy, Only the first night in Guilin and the second day in Yangshuo was sunny. I almost thought of not posting these photos, not wanting to spoil your impression of the picturesque Li River and the colourful rice terraces under a clear sky.
