Belgium has a special meaning to me, as it's the first foreign country I ever visited by myself without joining a tour. It was the Labour Day long weekend of 2006. Ever since that trip I have developed the interest in solo travel. The first impression I had of Belgium was rain and clouds. After seeing heavy thunderstorms in the third day's weather forecast from Belgium to Luxembourg, I decided to take the Euro Star to London and from there I even took the local train to Cambridge to take photos in the sun.
I returned to Belgium almost 5 years later, in March, 2011. It was also raining on and off. However, I managed to make 8 stops in 5 days including 1 day in Luxembourg and one day in the Netherlands.
The photos in this album were all taken in 2011, except for 3 photos (the last 3 in the Ghent folder) were from 2006, besides being almost the only sunny moment in Belgium, it was also a memorable one. You'll know why I want to keep those 3 photos when you click on that sub-album.

Thank you for your beautiful galleries. They certainly give me an idea of where I would visit next month.

Denise, I guess your solo travel is pretty romantic in a way that the world is all yours. I envy you. Joyce
