I didn't have to travel to Washington D.C. to see the cherry blossoms. It was the capital I wanted to photograph, and I believed it would look its best when they bloom. I went there on the very first day of the 2-week long 2010 Cherry Blossoms Festival. I knew it was a little too early, but rain was in the forecast during the four peak days, so I'd rather see the buds than the flowers starting to fall off.

Regardless of the stage of the cherry blossoms, it was the pale pink that decorated Washington D.C., balancing its solemnity with a gentle soft touch of Spring.
