The Tibetans I met on the whole seemed very honest, a little quiet, but quite friendly, if you can speak to them in Mandarin. The children are lovely. Wherever I travel, I like to communicate with the children. The Tibetan kids are not shy.
The discussion of the monks at the debating courtyard was not as interesting as I had anticipated. It seemed a little bit staged to me, but moreover, cameras are no longer permitted to be used. We could only use the cell phone to take pictures, and it was so crowded there with lots of tourists squeezing in the limited space to stand, and I guess I'm still not tall enough.
Due to the strong sun, the people here are tanned. And, it's easy to see the marks of sunburn on their skin. This was even more obvious on the faces of the elderly people, which, in a way, emphasizes the respectable perseverance in their character, after going through all the ups and downs in their lives.
