Sicily

My tour of Sicily was only 5 days long. It was a trip I added on before starting the tour of Croatia and Slovenia. Perhaps because it was a short stay, Sicily is one of the few places that did not impress me as much when I was there as when I looked at the photos and recalled the architecture, sculpture and landscape afterwards.

Lying way off the toes of the boot-shaped mainland, and after being invaded by the Greeks, East Germanic Tribes, Byzantium, Normans, Spaniards and a few others, Sicily has been under different influences and has its unique history.

I was expecting to hear the Sicilian language everywhere, but at the restaurants, hotels and the tourist districts, standard Italian was commonly spoken. Seeing that there was no problem communicating with the friendly people, I felt like being at my "third home". It was a pleasant 5-day short trip.

I must thank the nice tourmates in my group for having waited patiently almost 4 months for me to process these images. It was a lot of fun travelling with them.
