Most of these images were taken in July 2011 with a Digital Rebel T1i. A few images (the black and white ones mostly) were taken in October 2006 with a Digital Rebel XT.
The tufa formations that are seen in the images are created when calcium and carbonate meet to form limestone. These tufa are actually formed underwater but due to the lowering of the lake they have been revealed. Now that water is no longer being diverted from the lake the tufa may once again submerge.
These images were taken during the sunrise and sunset hours. The waterfall images were taken near Lundy Lake which is in the Mono Lake area. The panorama was taken from the rim of Panum Crater.
