Burghausen is a town near the border of Austria. With the pastel coloured houses around the old town main square, including the town hall painted in light blue (Photo 06 & 07), it's another German town that I love at the first sight.

Though it's not a big city, the Burghausen Castle built on the hill is the longest castle (not the biggest) in Europe. The whole area extends to a total length of 1,043 meters.

On the way going up to the castle, I noticed there were inlaid copper plates in the street with various jazz artists' signatures on them (Photo 11). This town with a population of less than nineteen thousand people has been hosting their annual Burghausen International Jazz Festival for more than 40 years, and many famous jazz musicians from all over the world have come to participate in this important event.
