Fenghuang Ancient Town (or Phoenix Old Town) and Zhangjiajie National Forest Park are both in Hunan Province, about 3/4 hours away from each other. I went there to take pictures in September, 2016. Weather was fine, sometimes a bit misty in the national forest park, which is normal for that region. I was lucky it did not rain on me, as on average it rains almost 180 days in a year over there.
The special treat was the glass bottomed bridge, because the week when my tour was there, the bridge was not officially opened yet. It wasn't included in the itinerary. We were all shocked when the tour guide told us we could be the first group of tourists to have access to the bridge if we paid an admission fee. That's why in these photos the bridge was not crowded at all. There were not that many people who happened to be there at the same time and heard about this rare chance. I couldn't help wondering if the bridge had passed the security inspection since it wasn't even opened. I was afraid to step on it at first. It's more than 300 meters above the ground, and 430 meters long. But, once I overcame the fear, I was very grateful to be there without a huge crowd. Besides, I had the perfect weather that day to capture this bridge - new, clean, almost sparkling under the beautiful blue sky. I'd also like to thank those strangers who did not mind me photographing them.
