Tenth Time's The Charm

The 10th trip to Jasper, and possibly its last, as Adrian and Helen are now 15 and 17, we are actually staying in Marshall ARK which is about 1 hr away. However, many of the spots we've visited are not that far from Marshall, and other spots in the Glenn Wheeler book which we have never visited will be in the area.

Dates are July 14th-19th 2024, Sunday-Friday.

The cabin is room enough for us 4 and KSG, easily, with no issues, and should do all 5 of us well. We know most all of the POIs in the region and can basically "hit the ground running" pretty much. There will be a full service kitchen and a dining room table, allowing me to get some groceries and cook much as I would at home. There are also enough places to go out to eat nearby for when I've had enough of being "Mr Chef Boyardee" as it were, and as we've done this many times before, I know well how not to "overbuy" and then have too much left-overs to deal with at the end. I will have a couple of computers on-hand and, most likely, a HotSpot as well.

Overview Of Instructions For Navigation

On the left I have links to a "detailed" page I made of the POIs over the years (warning: it's detailed, enter at your own risk), the cabin's Airbnb site, its location (with coordinates), and a link to the custom map I've made of the POIs. Note: like the "detailed" POIs page, the map is rather detailed and can quickly become ovewhelming; for a "quick rundown" of the "spots of emphasis" for 2024, uncheck all the boxes you see on the left except for "09_2024_Short." (Open all the other ones at your own peril.) I also link to the swimming holes book we use, both for buying it outright and for viewing it as a PDF.

New Cabin For 2024

We found a new cabin to stay in for 2024 (photo of it on the bottom of the page); it's cheaper, but actually highly rated, well off the road and all to itself around plenty of land, but with good cell phone service, reasonably close to POIs, and plenty of room for us 5. It's here: (AirBnB link, Google Maps Link GPS coordinates: 35.9529517, -92.58016). It's located in Marshall which is about an hour from Jasper, but close to other POIs from the swimming holes book. This way, the hope is that we can sort of combine the ideas of reliving the past spots with also trying out new spots to sort of "freshen" things a bit, and as it's cheaper but still apparently good, that will be beneficial as well.

NOTE: the location of the cabin is not confirmed for sure, although it appears to be right. I will not know the EXACT location FOR SURE until 1-2 days before we leave (at which time I'll update this page to relfect this), but my early indications are that I have the right location, or that I'm very close to it.

Kids Going to Silver Dollar City For a Day?

One possibility is that, for one day (perhaps Wednesday), the teenager kids will go on their own to Silver Dollar City while we older adults will do our own thing on that day. A car will be rented for us to use, and they will drive our "family" car on their own. Here is a link for Silver Dollar City: website.
