Jasper 2018 (J6)

Blog(2015)
This year we managed to get Cabin #1, the one closest to the pool & with the best Wi-Fi connection. Also the sheltered outside area was very helpful with cooking on a day or two (plus having an upstairs sleeping area was good for my wife & myself). In anticipation of this I had, about 2 weeks prior, got a Coleman camping stove (Walmart brand "Ozark Trail") since their dual-element hotplate takes forever to heat up anything. I anticipated making chicken noodle soup one day, I did not, but I DID make "chicken chunks" (Knoll packets with the cans of chicken, a common "quick fix" at home) our last full night as things were winding down.

We took the Pontiac Vibe again this year, the only time we've taken the same car in back-to-back years (2013 we still had "The Saturn" but took that Oldsmobile instead). We were sad to learn that the cabin owner's wife, whom we really had only seen the 1st year, was no longer part of the cabin experience as it were as she and Jeff (her husband) had divorced, the divorce having been finalized just the prior week. I was also sad to learn that "Zack" was now in a liquor store vs Harp's as his job, but I guess you do what you have to do. Still, it was a good overall cabin experience, other than even in this cabin the largest one sometimes we STILL felt cramped for space (the Coleman stove helped somewhat).

This year my camera gear was the Nikon D3300 outfit I had just gotten a month after Jasper 2017, for only $200 with the kit. I had the funds to get a higher-dollar camera like the D7200, D7500 or full-frame options but didn't do so, although I did upgrade the "II" 18-55mm VR to the AF-P (got a CPL for it too, uses 55mm threads). I also added the Sony RX100 I about a month prior at a good price ($150 including dual-battery charger, CPL set-up and grip). As usual my wife had a Nikon D3100. For music, we streamed via Pandora on my wife's Moto E5 Cruz/Play and used her phone for the GPS a lot as well. I later learned of "CoPilot" as a good offline GPS setup and it was very helpful as well.
