I slipped out early around 8 am and swam in nearby Grinder's Ferry. It was the first time I'd been there since 2017-8, when I complained of it being too busy. I got some light groceries from Harp's and headed back. We went to the "Blanchard" side of things, as I'd intended to do one of the days (since that region is in the opposite direction of most other POIs). We saw Mirror Lake Waterfall, a new spot she'd found, and then Blanchard Trailhead (35.959064,-92.175360 basically about a half mile down the same road, with the waterfall on the left as you're leaving). I was aiming for either the "upper" or "lower" spots, but this appeared to be something else. No problem, I did get some good shots, although while postering for a shot of the small waterfall, I took a tumble and injured my right knee and ruined my newer Sony RX100 III camera. I didn't flip out, simply switching over to the old one I still had back at the cabin. We visited Barkshed and Gunner for the first time--good shots, but not good swimming (shallow water). We cooled off at Grinder's Ferry just before 8 and got some more groceries at Harp's and ate at "Daisy Queen."
Note to self, the recreational swim areas, I never saw those, but in looking at the map, they appear to be down the road from Mirror Lake: with the lake on your right, head away from it (going North) and at the "split" keep right (Blanchard road) the "day use" area will be on the right and the "recreational area" on the left.
