Nördlingen is in Bavaria, and is one of the three medieval towns in Germany that still have the complete city walls. For the average foreign tourists, this place is not as famous as the fairy-tale typed Rotherburg ob der Tauber, hence it's less crowded and more tranquil.
Nördlingen sits near the impact point of a meteorite which hit the earth around 15 million years ago. The dominating Tower Daniel of the St. George Church was built of the rock formed from that impact.
Thanks to Gladys who drove me to this wonderful little town. We met on the Croatia tour and have remained friends afterwards.
I passed through Nörlingen many years ago taking a group of students on the way to Rothenburg. Because it was a bus tour, there wasn't much time to see the town. But I did plan the route to pass through here and stop briefly in the center. Thanks for your fine images that let me see what I missed.
