I went to one of the two Freiburgs in Germany, Freiburg im Breisgau, known as the Jewel of the Black Forest. This Freiburg is in the region of Breisgau, in the extreme south-west part of the country, not to be confused with Freiburg an der Elbe (Freiburg on the River Elbe), which is in the north-west.
I had always longed to see Freiburg im Breisgau, but due to the distance from the other German cities I travelled to, I never made it until I found out it was easier to go there from Zurich, Switzerland. Before I went, whenever I looked for the photos of this city, I just saw the city hall (#1 to 4), the ancient city gate Martinstor (#15), and most importantly the impressive Historisches Kaufhaus (Historical Merchants Hall, # 33-39). But, the fact is that, when you walk inside the old town, there is a nice surprise almost around every corner.
Love the intricate details you captured in your photos, they add so much more to the overall feel of the place, giving a sense of old time romance and culture, thank you.
