Autumn tonings in the rose garden
My roses are starting to get that look about them that its pruning time, and
I'll be starting to get into action very soon. We're having a delightful
spell of autumn sunshine right now with the days hovering around 20-C but
the days are drawing in and getting shorter.

These are down near our dam, one original and two that have grown since we arrived.
Notice how green everything is now after the RAIN!

Mushrooms everywhere!
They are popping up everywhere, especially throughout the rose garden, but we can't eat them unfortunately.

The cooling effect
This little rose changes colour with the seasons. In our warm parts of the year the rose is quite a deep pink, sometimes its two toned deep and pale pink, but our cold nights has affected the colour and produced this delicate version of the rose.

Its Souvenir de St. Anne's, a sport of the well known S.D.L. Malmaison, and discovered
in Ireland. My bush is towering over me right now (about 7-8 ft tall) with quite a few of these blooms opening or about to open.

Mini climber
This little rose is adding a bit of colour to the garden. I have 3 plants of this little rose attached to a cordyline (cabbage palm) and they have gradually climbed the tall trunk.

Hakea just opening in April
This is the "Laurina" which always blooms in April here, but it seems to be
running late this year, April is nearly over! This flower is very popular
amongst the birds - they love its sweet nectar.

Making a recovery
This little rose is just waking up after a long hot summer. All my roses stopped growing and performing from the excessive heat and lack of rain, but the cooler autumn days they like, and some are making buds and new leaves again. Here's one of the first, a little battle-scarred, called "Judy's Song" named for an Australian pop singer from the past.

Recovering
The pelargoniums are looking much better since the weather cooled down. They hated
the 15 days of temperatures between 35 - 41C, some might not make it, but this
particular one is producing new leaves and starting to look good again.

Leaves of green
Wasn't there a song with these words?
These are leaves of the Lilly Pilly, a tree that bears little purple fruits.
PS. I'm loving this lens!

6 a.m. sunrise on a very windy morning
Blowing a 40-knotter and a fiery red sky to start the day, 2 bushfires (wildfires) hopefully under control, one to the south and another to the north of us. Today the forecast is 40C, tomorrow, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday 39C - phew, its going on forever!
Last night was wild and windy with heavy dust in the air reminding us of Ash Wednesday 1983 when the southern states were alight with fires, houses burnt, lives lost etc, etc.

Rusty weather vane
Has been pointing to the north the past 11 days of heat wave, and another
