This was our wonderful view from the bedroom. Ontario, California
I used HDR because of the challenging lighting conditions.
Maybe next time they'll think twice before giving that room to a photographer.

This is Doctor Cherry Johnson our veternarian.
She only treats cats and has been taking care of ours since 2002.
In spite of the horrified appearance of the cat, Cherry is as sweet as she looks.

When her scheduled roommate dropped out,
I was able to go at the last minute.
This is from the 4th floor of the Embassy Suites.

Onion Field Harvest
In 2004 Kern County had 1460 Acres
of onions in production and harvested
37,800 tons for a total value of $6,595,00.
The 1973 book The Onion Field,
by Joseph Wambaugh, is a true story
about a pair of Los Angeles Police Department
officers abducted and killed in farmland
near Bakersfield.
The Onion Field was made into a movie in 1979.

Tehachapi Wind Turbines
The Tehachapi Wind Farm, with around 5,000 wind turbines, is the second largest collection of wind generators in the world (the largest is at the Altamont pass, near Livermore and the San Francisco Bay area), but is now the largest wind power array in the world in output. The turbines are operated by a dozen private companies, and collectively produce about 800 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, enough to meet the residential needs of 350,000 people every year. With over 15,000 turbines in the state (7,000 at Altamont and 3,000 at San Gorgonio Pass, near Palm Springs), wind power in California makes up about 1% of California's electricity.

Drilling for Oil
Occidental’s $3.5 billion acquisition in 1998 of the U.S. government’s 78-percent interest in the Elk Hills oil and gas field has been an excellent investment. This former Naval Petroleum Reserve, set aside in 1911 to ensure fuel supplies for the U.S. Navy, is the seventh largest oil field in the continental United States, with cumulative production exceeding 1 billion barrels of oil and 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. The Elk Hills acquisition made Occidental the largest natural gas producer and the third largest oil producer in the state.
