Does anyone remember an Amoco Station called Lakeside Amoco/Sports Car Services? It was located on the south side of NW 7th Street in Miami, between NW 42nd and NW 57th Avenues. They specialized in British and other European Sportscars and Fords. This would have been approximately between 1961 and 1965. I would like to find a picture of or talk to someone who remembers it. I am putting together a Scrapbook for my husbands (Skip Meyers who was the owner) 80th birthday.

Anyone remember a Shamrock gas station that was located on State Road 7 just west of 95. I believe the cross street was 143 or there about. I worked there during the summer of 1971. Just north on 7 was a restaurant called the Carrousel where we would have lunch almost every day. The owners name was Stan. There was an auto parts store across the street, as well as a used motorcycle shop. Any location information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In the mid-1970's I worked at the Perrine Sunoco station on northbound US1 at approx. SW 174th St. It was owned by Paul M. Shaffer. His son, Paul Jr. did auto body work there, and there was a mechanic named Kirk Pyle, along with a colorful cast of characters & customers that would stop in. Great memories of working there- would love to see photos if any exist!

My grandfather owned a gas station on Collins Avenue in the late 20's into the 30's. I believe it was a few miles north of the North Causeway. My mom (who is 90 now) says there were only 2 other buildings in the area at the time: a hospital and a lodge/hotel/resort (which was on the beach). My grandfather's name was William (Bill) Peek. After that he opened another station on Lincoln Road. I will show my mom this website so we can take more trips down memory lane! This is very nice - thank you.

There was a SUNOCO station on the NE corner of 79th st & 17th ave. It was called Kogels Sunoco .....that was my first job ever. I worked there about 1959 It was across 79th street from Mosleys .

My dad used to run two service stations somewhere in Miami in the 1965 to 1966 timeframe. I am trying to find any info such as old pic or address. They were a Sinclair and texaco across the street from each other with a utotem next to the Sinclair and a plastic manufacturing company next to the Texaco. It went by Miller texaco, Sinclair. We lived in a mobile home behind the Texaco. Obviously it was in a fairly industrial part of the city. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My dad owned Douglas Amoco at 7160 Bird Road from 1972-1984. My uncle owned Nelson Amoco from 1969-1983. I was the technician at Nelson's from 1973-1982 when I left to open a shop in the Falls area (still there after 29 years.). Great memories of the area and the business.

Wasn't there a gas station and tire store at ground level in a larger building on Biscayne Blvd between the old Miami News building and Bayfront park? Anywone remember that or have photos?

My dad, Leonard Gentil, managed the Standard Oil Station on Biscayne Blvd. We would park there and walk to Orange Bowl Parade. What great memories! What happened to this city?

Great pics. While I was staying at Sagamore in 52 enroute to Cuba I walked up and down Collins Ave. collecting road maps at gas stations-my hooby as a 13 year old. These pics bring back memories of that. I'm looking for pics of stations on Collins in the 50s.

The Shamrock gas stations were there at least until the late seventies.I worked there during the Embargo years.

I worked for a Guy "Jeff Hershey" who with his dad owned 3 Shamrock gas stations. One was on Key Biscayne, one was on 5th street on the beach and the last one was on West Dixie in North Miami. Jeff was quite the character, He was lily white and drove a "SUPERFLY" Cadillac with Continental kit and all.

They put out a 45 record with different styles of music and in different languages. In 1971 I started attending Broward Community College during the Gas Wars and paid 14 cents a gallon. My 1959 Edsel got 33 miles to the gallon. We lived on State Road 7 (441) near Davie Blvd. If you remember that area, you'll remember the Baseball pit and the rec.

I remember a gas war in 1970 when regular gasoline was selling at 19.9 cents/gallon. When filling up my Volkswagen, I could only put $1.98 worth of gas into the 10 gallon gas tank.

Anyone remember the Thony's gas station on SW 8 Street just west of 27th Ave? Leaded gas was $ .25/gal back in the late 60's and into the early 70's. They had one in North Dade also.
