Mission San Fracisco Solano ---under construction---
(Seen in July 2010 and Dec. 2014) Founded by Jose Altimira on July 4, 1823 (the only Mission founded after Mexico's Independence from Spain.) 21st and last Mission of California.
On this location on July 14, 1846 the bear flag was raised, declaring California’s independence from Mexico. This Mission is one of only two not under administration of the Catholic Church. Located across a central square, right amid numerous restaurants and wineries.
