Mission Santa Inés
(Seen in June 2026, also in Santa Ynez Chumash Tribe Museum) Founded by Esteban Tapis, dedicated on September 17, 1804.
Located in one of the popular small towns in California, the Danish Solvang, brimming with visitors. Mission can be approached on foot via a gate from the Mariposa Dr / Alisal Rd, or by car from the Mission Drive. The admittance to the Museum and Mission is in the Gift Shop. For information about the parish and visiting consult Mission Santa Inés official web site. The Museum has 3 rooms leading to the Madonna Chapel. From there is the access to the church. Exit from the church leads to the inner garden (quadrangle.) This is clearly one of the most fascinating Missions to visit. Amount of artwork in the Museum is impressive, and the location in the whimsical Solvang is a unique plus. Nearby in the town of Santa Ynez is a great Museum of the Chumash Nation. In this context we added the Chumash opinion about the missionaries and their impact on their culture and language. Outside the quadrangle is the beautiful Portiuncula Sacrament Chapel, often frequented by locals of faith, thus be respectful. Wikipedia page of Mission Santa Inés.
