Argelander 1843 (new 2025)

New Uranometry.
Representation of the stars visible to the naked eye in central Europe according to their true magnitudes taken directly from the sky by
Dr. Fr. Argelander. Professor of Astronomy and Director of the Bonn Observatory.

This beautiful star atlas by Friedrich Wilhelm August Argelander (1799-1875) is more or less a transition from classical to modern celestial cartography.
It still shows the classical constellations with their mythological origin, but they are drawn in red and fade into the background.
The title of Argelanderʼs atlas is to honour Bayerʼs Uranometria of the 17th century.
