First, it started with a leaky refrigerator. That was when my husband decided that it is time for to replace the entire kitchen floor, plus the countertops. Plus, the sink, and maybe cooktop: all in addition to the leaky old refrigerator that still cools properly. All have been with us ever since we custom built our house eons ago. To be really honest, I liked what we had. So, it wasn't 2024 "style". I still like(d) it!!! Hopefully, I'll like the update almost as much.

Meanwhile, I absolutely dread the remodeling process. As I said, we built this house. It was supposed to be finished when we first moved in. But it wasn't. Therefore, we had to finish things ourselves. Our first year here was a work zone. That was a story in itself. The builder (who put us in that position) was later successfully sued by others also affected by his crooked dealings. I don't have very good memories of being forced to live in a home that was a work in progress. So, I hope this remodel goes a lot smoother and a lot faster than things did when we first moved in.

We're keeping our custom, solid cherry wood cabinets and NOT painting them white. Plus, I'm not painting the walls white.

Other than that, we'll now be saying goodbye to many things that I have loved about my kitchen. In addition to those things being my personal taste, they were also a reflection of my husband's hard work. He's always been quite amazing in the things he can do.

I'm going to especially miss our original kitchen floor, which you can still see in my various doggy galleries. For a number of reasons, I don't want ceramic tile on the kitchen floor. Meanwhile, IMHO, the other 2024 floor choices are rather generic in design and tones. Hope I like whatever we finally put in. Again, I absolutely loved the original floor. However, after finding water damage under the old frig, my husband feels it's now time to move on.
