My husband slightly moved the old frig early this morning in order to be able to tear up the old floor under it. That's when it went dead. The movement must have done something. By the time I got up, he had ordered a new $200 mini frig (to be delivered today) from Home Depot.
Needless to say, I wasn't happy about this turn of events. However, I am happy to be able to get to the ovens again and into the dining room via the kitchen.
The freezer of the mini frig he had ordered barely had room for an ice tray. Not a good substitution for a real refrigerator. However, yesterday, we had placed an order (and PIF) for a very expensive, full-size, Samsung replacement for our old GE above. Yesterday's order also is no longer cancellable. Unfortunately, this new, replacement frig won't be in stock until the end of September. Only after then, a delivery date can be made. That makes "Almond GE" suddenly dying on us no minor problem. One can't live without a refrigerator for a whole month.
As we sat at the kitchen table (trying to decide if the cheapo mini frig my husband had picked out & already ordered would be big enough to handle daily living for the next month), there came a sound from the other end of the kitchen.
Our old frig had suddenly given a big sigh and started to run again! Luckily, we were able to cancel the order for the mini frig that was supposed to arrive before 7 PM this evening. This next month is going to be quite hairy, with not knowing if the old frig will live long enough to see delivery on a new one. If she completely stopped running once, it is highly possible that she will again. The old frig leaking water is now the least of our concerns about her.
