Surprise for Today 10-22-24

Gone!

Yesterday, this was a pastry-making nook with a built-in 2x3' genuine marble rolling slab insert and a chocolate bar sink. However, when I got up today, I discovered this.

My husband is on a roll. After he removed all of the ceramic tiles from the countertops, he decided to also remove the entire countertops, starting with this one. He says that his doing the work will make less construction dirt because he goes slow and constantly vacuums any dust or dirt along the way.

Because we have an open-to-the-family-room kitchen, the countertop construction team would have put up plastic between the rooms which may not have been perfect in keeping the dust confined. Plus, they would not have cleaned up until after everything was completely done. I suffer from RAD (as does President Biden) and breathing too much dust can make me ill. So, my husband feels his method of removing all of the countertops is the best. That way little dust occurs when I'm around.

I think he also enjoys doing as much as his own work as possible. It's not a money issue. He just enjoys doing things himself. Hopefully, the counter installer will also deduct the cost of this job from the original appraisal for the installation job in which removing a one-piece countertop was included as being standard. Only ceramic tile removal was quoted as extra. So, they may not deduct anything for the work my husband is now doing here. But he plans to do it all anyhow.

Anyhow, above came as quite the surprise to me this morning.

Sounds like quite the handyman. Bet it will look great when it's done.

He was on a roll in the pastry nook 8-) True love...

Just to note, they make electrical outlet covers that are clear and you can add a piece of cloth or wallpaper behind to match or accent whatever is on the wall etc.
and of course, there are different color plug outlets.
