Jaipur

From Pushkar I went to Jaipur, where I stayed at Umaid Bhavan, formerly the residence of a noble family. Next day I visited Samode Palace, one of Rajasthan's many converted palace hotels, about 40km away. Then I went to Delhi to join the Palace on Wheels, a 5-day tour aboard a luxurious train. First stop is Jaipur, where we visited Amber Fort, arriving by jeep but leaving by elephant. We had lunch at Rambagh Palace Hotel (also the Maharajah's residence) and later visited City Palace.
