On day 6, we left the train at Chittaugarh and drove to Udaipur. On the way we had a chai break at a truck stop. In Udaipur, we visited the beautiful Saheliyon-ki-Bari (Garden of the Maids of Honour), built in 1710 for princesses. Then we crossed what remained of the fast-receding lake to have lunch at the legendary Lake Palace Hotel, which is being left almost high and dry owing to poor rains. After lunch we toured City Palace and had afternoon tea in a palace hotel next door.
