Xi'an

Xi'an (西安), the capital of Shaanxi Province, is one of China's oldest and most historically significant cities. Known as Chang'an in ancient times, it served as the capital of 13 dynasties, including the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang. It was the eastern terminus of the historic Silk Road, making it a crossroads of trade, culture, and religion for more than a thousand years. Today, Xi'an is renowned for its remarkably preserved ancient city wall, the iconic Bell and Drum Towers, the Great Wild Goose Pagoda, and the world-famous Terracotta Army, the extraordinary underground army built to guard China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang. Blending a rich imperial heritage with a vibrant modern city, Xi'an remains one of China's premier destinations for history, archaeology, and culture.
