Small Wild Goose Pagoda

Built in AD 707 during the Tang Dynasty, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda (小雁塔) was constructed within Jianfu Temple to house Buddhist scriptures and sacred relics brought to China from India along the Silk Road. Originally standing 15 stories high, the pagoda now has 13 stories after suffering damage from several earthquakes over the centuries. Its elegant brick structure is known for its graceful proportions and simple, understated design, which contrasts with the larger and more famous Great Wild Goose Pagoda.
