The Terracotta Army

Created around 210 BC to guard the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, China's first emperor, the underground army consists of more than 8,000 life-sized soldiers, along with horses, chariots, and military officers arranged in battle formation. Every warrior has unique facial features, hairstyles, armor, and expressions. Many of the figures originally wore brightly painted colors, although most of the pigments faded shortly after excavation.
