For years the town had a fine, but too small archaeological museum, many objects were prey to the elements in its gardens. Then for some years it was being stripped of its objects, as a new museum was being prepared. This has opened in a large, former industrial, series of halls (on Ahmet Cevdet Blv. Near the Acibadem hospital) that have been adapted to their new function. More halls are being prepared, the resulting exhibition space, already big, will be huge. I here show pictures from visits to the museum in several settings and periods. Many objects have changed appearance, if only because they have been cleaned. If you plan a visit: many citizens do not know their museums, and will point you in the wrong direction. If you want to marry, the old spot is the place to be, as it’s an office for marriage registrations. I found taxi drivers do know the new address.
The history of Adana, which was established on fertile wetlands in the delta of the Seyhan and Ceyhan rivers, dates back to 6000 BC due to its geographical location.Archaeological findings in the region unearthed human settlements dating back even to the Paleolithic Age, but the Tepebag Mound, where archaeologists found a stone wall and a city center, was built in the Neolithic Age and is thought to be the oldest city in the Cukurova region. Its inhabitants lived of hunting and agriculture.

Dick,
I think this is an excellent idea, especially for someone like me, a life-long archaeological wanna-be. I'll never get to visit these museums, but now I can indulge in virtual visits via your photos. I hope you'll expand beyond Turkey, maybe to Greece , especially Crete. You know they have such outstanding stuff, but often it is poorly exhibited, and your photos do the objects more justice.
Best Regards. Guest (P.S. scary that my e-mail address popped up without my finishing the writing!)
