The history of Adana, which was established on fertile wetlands in the delta of the Seyhan and Ceyhan rivers, dates back to 6000 BC due to its geographical location.Archaeological findings in the region unearthed human settlements dating back even to the Paleolithic Age, but the Tepebag Mound, where archaeologists found a stone wall and a city center, was built in the Neolithic Age and is thought to be the oldest city in the Cukurova region. Its inhabitants lived of hunting and agriculture.
