Goslar is a historic town in Lower Saxony, Germany.
It is located on the northwestern slopes of the Harz mountain range. The Old Town of Goslar and the Mines of Rammelsberg
are UNESCO World Heritage Sites for their millennium-long testimony to the history of
ore mining and their political importance for the Holy Roman Empire and Hanseatic League.

For our Autumn vacation to the Baltic Sea, we took a three day break to explore the town.
We were very impressed, especially with the 1,500 exceptionally well-preserved half-timbered houses from different eras,
located in the center of the Old Town. The history of the town, which gained its wealth
from mining and became the seat of the German Emperor, can be experienced at every
turn, just by walking through the narrow cobbled lanes.
