The Lutheran church was built between 1907 and 1908
and was named after the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf.
It was built in the Norwegian architectural style and
constructed by local craftsmen using Spruce wood from the nearby Harz mountains.
The building with its three towers and the unusual shape of the roof construction,
reminiscent of an inverted Viking ship attracts countless visits every year.
