I will be updating this site throughout construction of the Vista Ski lodge at Thorn Ridge. January and early February '07 saw work start on clearing and leveling the lot. Feb. 21 construction started on the two retaining walls. The west wall is about 140' long and the east wall is about 80' long. The retaining walls were finished on March 2nd and the piers for the foundation were completed March 8th. 3.7" of rain on the 19th and 20th has delayed setting the foundation forms and trenching for the beams. The beam trenches were dug and the foundation plumbing roughed in the week of April 9th. The final prep before pouring the foundation was completed the week of 4/16. Due to rain expected on 4/24 the foundation is scheduled to be poured 4/27. The foundation was poured on Friday 4/27 and the framing will start Monday 4/30. Due to the constant rain in May it has taken four weeks of framing to complete the roof rafters. Another two weeks and it should be ready for the roof. Well finally some more progress is being made. The interior plumbing rough out was done in July and the stone work, painting were finished in August. The roof should be done the first week of September. The electrical rough in started in August as well and should be done in September. It is going slow since we are doing that ourselves. Electrical was finished at the end of September just in time to start blowing in the closed cell foam insulation. The insulation should finished second week of October followed by the sheet rock, tape bed and texture which finished at the first week of November. We then started the painting of the interior walls and ceiling on November 10th and finished Thanksgiving weekend. The HVAC final installation was completed the following week. The cabinets were delivered the week of December 3rd and we started staining/varnishing them before installation which will be done 12/26. The master bath synthetic marble vanities, tub and shower were installed on 12/17. We started installing the wood laminate flooring on 12/24. The granite countertops were installed on 1/11/08. Floor tiling began in late January - the bathrooms and laundry room are done, and we'll do the kitchen next. Toilets are installed and functional, and most of the plumbing is hooked up. Kitchen floor is finished, and now the guest tub surround tiling is in work. The dishwasher, cooktop, and oven is installed. Master bedroom floor is finished and closet shelving is complete (and mostly painted). We're coming into the home stretch now!
