(polymaetus bellicosus)
A huge eagle, quite distinctive with its dark head and chest and its spotted belly. It is found in quite a variety of habitats from savanna to desert and forest edges. We found this bird early in the morning before the day had warmed up so it was reluctant to move. Photographed roadside between Epako Lodge and Etosha, unfortunately in a rather ugly pose on an electricity pole.
