at the Museum of Modern Art, Frankfurt, 29. September 2007 - 20. Januar 2008

Taryn Simon shows a new series of photos to be seen in full for the first time. For "An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar" the artist adopts the double role of clever informer and curiosity collector who puts together an inventory of that which is hidden and out of sight within the borders of the USA. As visions of the unnoticed the photographs of the American Index capture that rare magic that is basis of the national identity.

Hi Guenther, I believe you have mainly captured here to us - the watchers - aside the exhibition. I can feel more our presence as an excited espectator in fusion with the exhibition than other thing. You grab the essence of our emotions and that's the relevant key point when looking at your beautiful series about art and galleries, IMHO.
