At the end of a business trip, with some last minute planning, my colleague Delphine and I decided to take this safari before our long flight home.

Around the famous Kruger National Park are several private game reserves. All are not fenced so the animals can migrate easily between public and private properties. This provides a better ecosystem for the animals, it also offers a better opportunity to view a variety of animals for everyone.

We decided on Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, and chose to stay at its Selati Camp - the oldest of the four lodges on the reserve. The two full day tour includes 4 open top Landrover game drives (two mornings and two evenings), lunch and dinner as well as snacks and afternoon tea. We also tried their spa treatment at the Bush Lodge which was 15 minutes away.

The name Sabi Sabi is derived from the word 'tsave', meaning 'fear' or 'danger' in the Tsonga dialect. This stems from the large numbers of dangerous crocodile and hippo in the Sabie River.
