A vast semi-desert limestone plain, about 750 km long by 200 km wide, reaching the central south coast of Australia. One version of the story of the naming of the plain goes that Nullarbor is Latin - "nullus arbor" - no trees. (The other version is that it is an Aboriginal name. I don't know which is correct.) No trees is mostly quite correct. On much of the plain there's not a shrub over about 60 cm tall.
