North Pasture
Below the fire tower lies the North Pasture. It is often a good place to spot wildlife, like the black bear sitting up in the right center of this image, no doubt enjoying some wild raspberries. As black bears go, she is pretty impressive in size, although it's hard to appreciate from this long distance. I was glad for the distance, however, as there are three cubs - triplets, hidden away in the bushes surrounding her. I would have liked some family pictures, but fortunately I still retain some measure of good sense when behind the lens.

Summer Storm
A summer storm about to sweep over the Pitcher Mountain fire tower.
When it hit, a ferocious wind tipped over my tripod. I caught it, fortunately, and ran for cover below treeline.
