Erosion and weathering have created numerous dramatic sandstone arches, pinnacles, spires, and balanced rocks in bright red color in Arches National Park which is located at southeastern Utah near Moab.

This is a relatively small national park with most of interesting geological features easily accessible by the only motor road thru the park. There are many family-friendly hiking trails around the park leading visitors to breath-taking views.

Pictures were taken during a trip in August of 2006. The pictures were arranged in the order of what one will see if one drives along the only paved park road from the park entrance in the south to the north direction.
