We got an early start this morning - Longmire was less than 6 miles away and we were anxious to get there. Once again, the skies were clear but it didn't matter - there were no views down in the trees. It was an easy day, mostly a gentle downhill, and we were sitting on the front porch of the National Park Inn with our feet propped up by 11:20. The mountain was out and was beautiful - it was a bit frustrating, after all, you don't even have to make an effort to see it from here! Scott and Stephanie were meeting us to bring our last cache and join us for the last 3 days of hiking. They arrived and we headed in to have a delicious lunch at the restaurant. Nothing hits the spot quite like a cheeseburger after 6 days on the trail! We killed some time until our room was ready - ahh, it felt good to shower and be clean again. We decided to drive up to Paradise but, as has been our luck, by the time we arrived it had clouded in. We went back and rested in our rooms until dinner. It's a rare opportunity to have a hotel room and "real food" in the middle of a hike, and we took full advantage of it! Dinner was excellent and dessert was even better. It felt odd to stay up past sunset but we managed. All in all, a very nice rest and relaxation day!
